The population of the tea gardens is struggling more than ever during the Covid-19 crisis as its work has stopped. There is no furlough for them and now no income.
These are a people who are malnourished at the best of times and 60% of their children have stunted growth.
We are working with these people in an ongoing sight awareness project.
Also, when we recently saw their lack of food after lockdown we needed to urgently step in and help. Privately the trustees and supporters of the charity raised a separate fund for this cause and had sacks of food delivered to them.
